Overview
The Silvanet Gen 4 Pro sensor provides a secondary functionality when configured with Satellite connectivity and Weather Station Mode.
Weather Station Mode enables remote environmental monitoring by collecting and transmitting data from locations where traditional connectivity infrastructure may not be available.
Sensors deployed in Weather Station Mode provide environmental measurements including:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- PM2.5 (Particulate Matter)
This data provides valuable insights into local environmental conditions and supports long-term forest monitoring and analysis.
Planning Weather Station Sensor Groups
For the most reliable environmental data, Weather Station Mode sensors should be planned and deployed in small groups rather than as individual sensors.
We recommend planning groups of 4–5 sensors within the same monitoring area. This allows the system to compare readings across multiple sensors and reduce the impact of local variations or individual sensor outliers.
For optimal results:
- Deploy 4–5 sensors per monitoring area where possible
- Space sensors approximately 50–200 meters apart
- Select locations that represent the environmental conditions you want to monitor
Site Configuration Recommendations
The median value displayed in the Silvanet platform is calculated using all Weather Station Mode sensors assigned to the same site.
To ensure the displayed data represents a consistent monitoring area, we recommend creating separate dedicated sites for each group of Weather Station Mode sensors.
Avoid combining sensor groups from different locations within a single site, as this may affect the accuracy and interpretation of aggregated environmental data.
Installation and Orientation
When planning Weather Station Mode deployments, follow the recommended mounting and orientation guidelines to ensure accurate environmental measurements and reliable satellite connectivity.
