Relocating a Mesh Gateway may be necessary to improve coverage or adapt to changes in your deployment area. Follow these steps to ensure the process is smooth and that your network remains functional.
1. Plan the New Location
Use the Site Management app to identify the best new position for the Mesh Gateway based on coverage needs.
Consider LoRaWAN signal strength, line of sight, and the proximity to Border Gateways and sensors.
Make sure the new location gets good sunlight for charging.
2. Prepare the Mesh Gateway
Check the device’s current health and battery level in the Site Management app before relocation.
If the battery is low, better fully charge the device via solar exposure before moving it.
3. Unmount the Mesh Gateway
Carefully remove the device from its mounting point.
Avoid damaging the mounting brackets so they can be reused if needed.
4. Install at the New Location
Mount the Mesh Gateway vertically on a stable pole or tree, facing north (in the northern hemisphere) for optimal solar panel exposure.
Ensure it’s securely fastened and safe from physical damage.
Important:
If you relocate the Mesh Gateway to a new Site or location, ensure that a planned Mesh Gateway exists in the Deployment App before scanning the device.
This allows you to correctly assign and register the relocated Mesh Gateway to the new Site during deployment.
If there is no planned Mesh Gateway yet, create one first in the Planning Tool before continuing.
5. Update Location in Silvanet
When any Silvanet device (Sensor, Mesh Gateway, or Border Gateway) is moved, update its GPS coordinates in the system.
Option A – Site Management app
Open the Site Management app and select the Site.
In Device overview, expand the device and select Device info.
Go to the Location tab.
Enter the new Latitude and Longitude and select Submit.
Option B – Deployment app
| Latitude and Longitude values for a Silvanet Device can only be changed on deployed devices. |
Open the Deployment app and select the Site.
Select the deployed device.

Tap the Edit (pencil) icon next to the coordinates.
Either:
Enter the new Latitude/Longitude manually, or

Use Adjust Pin Location on Map to drag the location to the correct spot.

Tap Confirm.
Option C – Deployment app
Open the Dryad Deployment App.
Select the Mesh Gateway from your device list.
Tap Show Device Details.
Tap the Restart Connectivity Test icon.
Select Reset Device to Current Location
6. Test Connectivity
Use the Deployment app’s connectivity test to ensure the Mesh Gateway communicates with the network and nearby devices.
Confirm that all connected sensors report data normally.
