When using the Silvanet Deployment App in areas with limited or no internet connectivity, you can still perform deployment tasks offline. The app caches data locally and automatically syncs it back to the cloud once you regain a connection. This article explains how that works, what you need to do to prepare, and tips to make sure nothing gets lost.
Before You Go Offline
Note: Make sure your Deployment App is properly prepared before heading into the field. This includes granting permissions, loading site maps, and charging your device. For detailed steps, see:
[How to Prepare the Deployment App for Field Use]
Note: Always use the latest version of the Deployment App to benefit from bug fixes and improvements. For update instructions, see:
How to Update the Silvanet Deployment App to the Latest Version?
What Happens While You’re Offline
When the app is offline (no network / Wi-Fi / cellular data):
You can register devices (e.g. scanning QR codes), select Sites, view planned devices, mark devices deployed, run connectivity tests (where applicable).
Cached maps and Site information remain available even without internet.
You may see status indicators for devices, device lists, map views based on the latest locally synced data. New updates (from other devices or cloud) will not be present until you sync.
Sync Process Once Back Online
When your device reconnects to the internet:
Automatic Upload – As soon as internet is available, the app uploads all actions recorded offline.
Download Cloud Data – The app retrieves any changes made in the cloud since your last sync.
Conflict Handling – If conflicting updates exist, the system applies resolution rules (usually latest change wins, or admin review may be required).
Things to Keep in Mind
| Scenario | What to Expect | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Working offline for extended periods | All actions are saved locally until you reconnect. | Regularly reconnect when possible to sync data. |
| Poor or intermittent connection | Sync may happen partially. | Verify important updates after regaining stable signal. |
| Multiple users editing the same site | Conflicts may arise. | Coordinate deployments to avoid duplication. |
Best Practices for Smooth Offline Sync
Open the app online before going to the field to ensure you have the latest site/device data.
Allow time for a full sync once you’re back online.
Communicate with your team to reduce duplicate or conflicting offline actions.
-
Keep your app version up to date.
