When possible, we recommend installing devices in the order detailed below. This ensures the network is established and its quality is confirmed before installing sensors, reducing the risk of repositioning or rework.
Recommended Deployment Order
1.
Border Gateways
- Why first?
Border Gateways are the primary access point between the Silvanet mesh network and the cloud. All data from the field flows through them. Installing Border Gateways first ensures downstream devices have a communication path to the backend. - Key Tips:
Securely mount the gateway 3–4 meters high.
Orient the solar panel toward the sun at local noon for optimal charging.
After mounting, use the Silvanet Deployment App to test connectivity and ensure the gateway becomes active.
2.
Mesh Gateways
- Why second?
Mesh Gateways extend the reach of the network. They connect to a Border Gateway and relay messages from sensors deeper in the deployment area. - Key Tips:
Securely mount the gateway 3–4 meters high.
Orient the solar panel toward the sun at local noon for optimal charging.
After mounting, use the Silvanet Deployment App to test connectivity and ensure the gateway becomes active.
3.
Sensors
- Why last?
Sensors depend on the already-established network to send data. Deploying them before gateways might result in delaying the deployment. - Key Tips:
- Securely mount the sensor 3m high
- Ensure the solar panel has sufficient access to sun
- After mounting, use the Silvanet Deployment App to register the sensor
