To ensure your Border Gateway Gen 3 connects reliably to the Silvanet Cloud, you need the right type of SIM card.
SIM Slot in Border Gateway Gen 3
The Border Gateway Gen 3 includes a physical SIM card slot.
This allows you to insert your own Micro SIM card if you prefer to use a specific provider or private network.
SIM Card Requirements
To work with Silvanet, the SIM must:
A micro SIM
Support LTE-M (Long-Term Evolution for Machines) and/or NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT).
Be enabled for data transmission (ensure your provider has provisioned the SIM for LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity).
Belong to a network that operates on supported frequency bands (e.g., B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B8, B12, B13, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26, B27, B28, B66, B71, B85).
Default SIM (Telus Roaming SIM)
By default, Dryad provides the BG Gen 3 with a Telus roaming ESIM card.
This card automatically connects to Telus roaming partners worldwide where LTE-M or NB-IoT is available.
Using Your Own SIM
If you choose to insert your own Micro eSIM, make sure your provider supports LTE-M or NB-IoT in your region.
Confirm coverage in your deployment area using the provider’s coverage maps.

✅ Tip: If you are unsure whether a SIM card is compatible, contact your provider and ask if it supports LTE-M / NB-IoT on one of the supported bands listed above.
