You can streamline site planning by importing pre-prepared geographical files, such as KML, KMZ, or Shapefiles. These files appear as map overlays, making it easier to design accurate planning areas, paths, and mesh networks
What You’ll Need
A prepared reference file in .kml, .kmz, or Shapefile (.zip) format
For Shapefiles: a .zip archive containing all required components (.shp, .shx, .dbf, etc.)

How to Import a .kml, .kmz, or Shapefile (.zip) in Your Site Plan
.kml, .kmz, or Shapefile (.zip) files can be imported into the Silvanet Site Planning Tool at any stage of planning.
In the Planning tool, see the Planning Overview panel on the left-hand side.
Locate the Overlays field at the top of the panel.
Click the + icon next to “Overlays.”
Select your locally saved .kml, .kmz, or Shapefile (.zip) file.
The file will load as an overlay on the map.
When you select a polygon from the overlay list, you can modify its appearance and view its details, as shown in the image below.
Here you can:
Change the name of the polygon
Adjust its color
Modify opacity
Delete the polygon if needed
These options help improve clarity when working with multiple shapes on the map.
Note: Users can add multiple overlays as needed or remove them from the Overlays list.
How Imported Files Are Used
All paths, areas, shapes, and pins from imported files appear as read-only overlays.
These overlays can be used as a reference when manually creating:
Sensor Areas
Sensor Paths
Gateway Pavements
When a site plan is saved, the imported .kml, .kmz, or Shapefile (.zip) files are also saved with the plan.
Important: Imported files do not automatically create editable planning areas. They serve only as reference layers.
Tips
When using Shapefiles, make sure your .zip archive includes all required files.
Use files with accurate GPS coordinates to ensure proper alignment on the map.
