Dryad continuously improves its technology, including both hardware and software. As a result, users may currently work with Generation 2 and Generation 4 Pro Silvanet Wildfire Sensors.
To ensure correct installation and system performance, the sensor generation must be defined during the planning stage in the Site Planning Tool.
Global Sensor Configuration
When creating a sensor area or path, the sensor generation can be defined using the Sensor generation drodown in the area properties and will be applied to all sensors within that area to ensure consistent configuration.
Individual Sensor Configuration
Users can also configure sensor generation on a per-device basis.
This allows individual sensors within a site plan to be assigned a specific generation, providing flexibility in mixed deployments.
Configuring sensor generation for an individual sensor
- Click on the sensor you want to configure, either on the planning map or from the sensor list.
- The sensor editing panel will open in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select Edit sensor type.
- The sensor generation dropdown will appear.
- Select the sensor generation you want to assign.
- Confirm your selection to apply the configuration.
Note: Correctly configuring the sensor generation during the planning phase helps ensure the deployment plan is accurately transferred to the Silvanet Deployment App and supports a smooth installation in the field.
What happens during deployment if the incorrect sensor generation is selected?
If a deployment plan is created with the wrong sensor generation (for example, selecting Generation 2 instead of Generation 4 Pro, or vice versa), the correct device can still be assigned during installation.
When scanning a sensor’s QR code in the Silvanet Deployment App, the system will recognize the physical device and allow it to be assigned to the correct sensor generation, ensuring the deployment can continue even if the original plan was incorrect.
However, Generation 4 Pro sensors cannot be deployed using NFC if the correct sensor configuration is not selected during planning. They must be scanned via QR code. In addition, satellite connectivity and Weather Station Mode are not supported without NFC-based onboarding.
To ensure a smooth installation process, it is important to verify that the correct sensor generation and sensor mode is selected during the planning phase.
Note: When selecting Generation 4 Pro sensors, additional sensor type settings become available for connectivity and satellite sensing mode, enabling further configuration and functionality.
