⚠️ General Warnings
Safety First
Always work in pairs. Stabilize ladders when mounting sensors on trees, especially thinner ones. Ensure the ladder is stable and properly angled.
Select a Healthy Tree
Avoid trees with rot, insect damage, or visible disease. Choose trees unlikely to be cut or fall within the sensor’s lifetime. Select a new tree within 20 m if needed.
No Touch After Calibration Begins
Once a sensor is mounted and begins its 14-day calibration, avoid any interaction. Physical tampering may lead to inaccurate readings or reset the sensor entirely.
Sensor Orientation & Height
Correct Height: Mount the sensor at 3 meters above the forest floor. This:
Maximizes solar exposure.
Improves detection accuracy.
Avoids animal/human interference.
Sunlight Direction:
Face the solar panel toward the sun at 12:00 noon:
True South (Northern Hemisphere)
True North (Southern Hemisphere)
Use a compass for accuracy.
Communication Range
Ensure the nearest Gateway is within 1 km of the sensor for optimal data transmission.
