Large Silvanet deployments often span wide areas, multiple risk zones, and several installation phases. Careful upfront planning ensures that each stage of deployment runs smoothly, avoids rework, and keeps all teams aligned. The following best practices will help you structure your Site Plan effectively when working with large or multi-phase projects.
1. Create a Global Site Plan
Begin by creating a single, global Site Plan covering your entire deployment area.
-
As part of this plan, divide the site into separate sensor areas corresponding to each deployment phase.
Define all aspects of the site early, including:
Sensor areas
Protection levels
Paths
Overall connectivity network
-
Even if some phases will be deployed later, planning them from the start ensures:
Consistent coverage across the site
Clear phase boundaries
A coherent network design throughout the project lifecycle
Planning phase-specific sections early helps field teams understand the scope of each deployment stage and reduces rework.
See Site Planning Tutorial: Step by Step for further details on planning a site.
2. Creating Phase-Based Plans From Your Global Plan
Duplicate your global Site Plan to create new plans for each planned deployment phase. It is good practice to title these plans “Phase 1,” “Phase 2,” etc.
Remove sensor areas, gateways, or network segments that will not be deployed in the specific phase. For example, in the Phase 1 plan, remove Phase 2 and Phase 3 sensor areas.
Repeat this process for each subsequent deployment phase.
-
This approach ensures that:
Each phase-specific plan is clear and easy to follow.
Field teams have an accurate scope of work for the phase.
The overall deployment remains aligned with the master plan.
Once all phase plans are prepared, you can create a deployment for the first phase, ready for field installation.
3. Organizing Deployment Areas for Multi-Team Deployments
If multiple installation teams will work in parallel, structure your sensor areas so that each team has a clearly defined zone.
Name the areas according to the team responsible (e.g., North Ridge – Team A, South Valley – Team B) to ensure clarity in the Silvanet Deployment App.
This helps field teams navigate efficiently and minimizes overlap or missed sections during installation.
